Terms of Service

These terms explain the rules for using Spendol and the responsibilities we each have.

Effective August 9, 2026

Terms of ServicePrivacy PolicyContent PolicySupport

1. Agreement to these terms

These Terms of Service govern your access to and use of Spendol, including our mobile application, website, and related services (together, the “Service”). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these terms and our Privacy Policy and Content Policy.

If you use Spendol on behalf of an organization, you confirm that you have authority to accept these terms for that organization. If you do not agree to these terms, do not use the Service.

2. Who may use Spendol

You must be legally able to enter into this agreement and meet the minimum age required by the laws where you live. You may not use the Service if applicable law prohibits you from doing so.

3. What Spendol does

Spendol helps people record personal and shared expenses, organize groups, calculate balances, attach notes and receipts, and record settlements or loans. Spendol is a record-keeping and coordination tool. It is not a bank, payment processor, lender, financial adviser, accountant, or tax adviser.

Spendol does not transfer money or guarantee that another person will pay an amount shown in the Service. Balances and calculations depend on the information users enter. You are responsible for checking entries, split rules, currencies, exchange rates, and settlement details before relying on them.

4. Your account

  • Provide accurate account information and keep it up to date.
  • Keep your sign-in credentials and devices secure, and tell us promptly if you suspect unauthorized access.
  • Accept responsibility for activity performed through your account, except where applicable law provides otherwise.
  • Do not create or use an account for another person without their authorization.

5. Your content and shared information

You keep ownership of the information and content you submit, including expense details, notes, names, images, receipts, and group information (“User Content”). You give Spendol a limited, worldwide, non-exclusive license to host, store, copy, process, transmit, and display User Content only as needed to operate, secure, improve, and provide the Service.

When you add User Content to a shared expense, friendship, or group, it may be visible to the other people involved. You are responsible for having the right to share that content and for avoiding unnecessary personal or confidential information.

6. Acceptable use

You must follow our Content Policy and all applicable laws. You may not misuse the Service, interfere with its operation, access it through unauthorized means, probe or bypass its security, use automated systems in a way that burdens the Service, impersonate others, or use Spendol to facilitate fraud, harassment, or other harm.

7. Third-party services

The Service may rely on or link to third-party services such as identity providers, hosting providers, app stores, email or messaging providers, mapping services, and device operating systems. Their products and terms are separate from ours, and Spendol is not responsible for third-party services we do not control.

8. Availability, sync, and changes

We work to keep Spendol reliable, but the Service may occasionally be interrupted, delayed, changed, or unavailable. Because Spendol supports local-first use, information may temporarily differ between devices while changes are waiting to sync. Keep your device and account secure and review important records after reconnecting.

We may add, change, or remove features when reasonably necessary to improve, secure, or maintain the Service. We do not promise that every feature will always be available.

9. Suspension and termination

You may stop using Spendol at any time. You can permanently delete your account in the app from Settings, then Account, then Delete account. If you cannot access the app, contact support@spendol.com from your account email. Account deletion removes your profile and private content. Minimal anonymized accounting fields in shared records may remain so deletion does not corrupt balances or records belonging to other participants.

We may restrict or suspend access when reasonably necessary to protect users or the Service, investigate suspected misuse, comply with law, or address a material breach of these terms.

Terms that by their nature should continue after termination—including ownership, disclaimers, limitations of liability, and dispute provisions—will continue to apply.

10. Disclaimers

To the extent permitted by law, the Service is provided “as is” and “as available.” We do not make warranties that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or suitable for a particular financial, accounting, legal, or tax purpose. Nothing in these terms excludes warranties or rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.

11. Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, Spendol will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, data, goodwill, or business opportunity arising from use of the Service. Spendol is not responsible for disputes between users, payment failures, or decisions based on inaccurate user-entered information.

Nothing in these terms limits liability where doing so would be unlawful, including liability that cannot be limited under applicable consumer protection law.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms to reflect changes to the Service, law, or our practices. We will post the updated version and change the effective date. If a change materially affects your rights, we will provide additional notice when required. Continuing to use the Service after updated terms take effect means you accept them, where permitted by law.
